UML request for Darchula incident

The Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has demanded the formation of a “parliamentary inquiry committee” to investigate the Byas Gaonpalika-2 Malghat incident in Darchula.

The locals, who were reportedly intercepted by the Indian SSB while crossing the Mahakali River at Malghat in Darchula on July 31 and then fell into the Jaisingh Dami River, are now missing.

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota gave time to UML MP Ganesh Singh Tagunna to speak at the beginning of today’s session of the House of Representatives of the Union Parliament. The UML also demanded a formal protest in India against the incident, action against those responsible for the incident in the Indian National Security Agency and compensation for the relatives of the victims.

The Tagunna MP said there was no hearing even though the relatives filed an FIR with the Indian police, but accused the Nepalese government of trying to cover up the incident.
